GUILD INFORMATION

The following outlines the various information about the rules and structure our guild tries to follow whenever possible.  If you are looking for information that is not present in this section, please contact an officer so we can add it.

Overview

Sagacious Sovereignty is an adult membership Alliance guild on the Velen World of Warcraft server with progression based goals. We are currently clearing the 25-man versions of Malygos, Naxxramas (up to and including Kel'Thuzad) and Obsidian Sanctum (no drakes) on a weekly basis. In addition, we are working on multiple drake OS, Emalon, 10-man Ulduar (we have currently downed the 10-man versions of Flame Leviathan, Ignis, Razorscale, and XT-002 Deconstructor), and are just starting with 25-man Ulduar (we have currently downed Flame Leviathan).

While we are progression focused, we do not consider ourselves a hard core raiding guild. Instead, we view ourselves as a casual guild experiencing (and clearing) end game content.

With this in mind, we strive to make our guild environment as positive and low-drama as possible. We are looking for individuals that are mature (18+ only), friendly, and will give consideration and courtesy to their fellow guild members. Being well geared for level 80 and knowledgeable about end-game raiding is a plus, but as long as you're willing/able to learn, we're willing to teach you.

If our guild sounds like something you might be interested in joining, please fill out an application on our website and/or contact Kimtoes/Shadospawnn in game about joining us for one or two of our runs.

The ability to listen to raid directives on Ventrilo and a level 80 character are required for membership.

Raid times are most nights between 7pm-10pm server time.

Raid Times and Invites

At 15 minutes before raid time, we will open invites to the raid to those that have signed up to the raid on the website.

At 5 minutes before raid time, we will open invites to any guild member, which means that if sign-ups aren't already invited during the previous window, they may lose their spot.

At raid time, we will open invites to anyone, including the chance of non-guild members.

Slots may be saved for specific individuals if they discuss their situation with a raid leader beforehand, and additionally individuals may lose their spot if the raid is already full for that character type for the evening.

Anyone losing their spot is welcome to stay online and available and at least gain alternate EP for boss kills.

In a nutshell, please make sure you sign up on the website for a raid and show up at least 15 minutes early if you want to assure the best chance at a spot in the raid.

Loot Distribution

Loot gained during a raid is distributed either via our EPGP system, or via a roll system.   EPGP is always used when the run is all guild, and the /roll system is used at the discretion of the raid leader if needed when public players are joining us.

EPGP:

Our EPGP system, in a nutshell, tracks a players contribution (effort points, or EP) versus their return (gear points, or GP).  This number is expressed as a priority rating (PR) that is calculated by dividing their effort points by their gear points.   Members may see their priority rating (PR) at any time by clicking the 'Rapid Raid' link, then the 'leaderboard' link.

Priority: When a piece of loot drops under the EPGP system, the loot master will link the item and ask the members present to declare either 'primary' or 'offspec' into raid chat.  Primary declarations automatically take precendent over offspec declarations, so unless there are no primary declarations, an offspec declaration cannot win the piece of gear.   Of those that declared primary, the player with the highest priority rating (PR) will receive that particular piece.   It should be noted that individuals putting in for a piece of gear that is not their primary armor type (for instance a leather wearer putting in for cloth), their effective priority rating will be halved for that comparison.  If noone wishes to spend gear points (GP) on the item, the item will be assigned to the guild bank for either disenchant or sale on the auction house.  Proceeds will be used to fund the raid preparation tab of the guild bank (flasks, food, potions, reagents) and guild-funded repairs.

* Exception: Due to the fact that we want to do what's best for everyone involved, certain situations may preclude individuals from putting in on an item as primary.  Specifically, we ask that people do not put in for an item as primary if it is not actually their primary spec, as well as that primary ranged weapons users do not compete against primary melee weapon users for melee weapons, and vice versa for ranged items.

Effort Points: Effort points are gained for signing up (and attending, on time) planned raids, and for participating in boss kills.  From time to time, bonus effort points may be awarded for attempts at new content even if that particular encounter is not cleared.  Points given out are approximately equal to the amount of gear points pulled from the encounter, rounded up to the nearest five.  Example: If 250 gear points are looted from a boss, then the 25 people present for that kill will receive 25 effort points each.

* Alternate Points: Sometimes, when a raid is already full, we are forced to ask people to sit out.  Those people are welcome to place themselves on the alternate raider list.  When on that list, as long as they can be contacted in some way and make themselves available as a replacement in case someone leaves the raid, they will be awarded half the effort points gained by those attending the raid.

Gear Points: Gear points are spent by taking loot from a raid.  The cost of the piece of gear is based on the item level, as defined in the following table.   Gear taken as 'offspec' is half cost to the character.

Notes: This system is the fairest system we could come up with, but we have, can, and will likely change it as we feel appropriate to try and make the fairest system with a minimum of drama we can come up with to handle loot distribution.

/Roll System

On those nights where we find it necessary to move to a roll based system, EPGP will be suspended (nothing earned, nothing spent).  However, we adhere to the following rules for the fairness of all involved:

1) In order to be eligible to roll on an item, the character must be a primary user of that item.

2) In order to be eligible to roll on an item, the character must be the wearer of that armor type (ie, a leather cannot roll against cloth wearers for a piece of cloth loot).  If the item is a best in slot for a character despite not being the same type, a roll may be made, but the results of that roll will be halfed for comparison to primary wearers of that armor type.

3) We do not allow melee weapon users to roll against ranged weapon users on ranged weapon drops, and vice versa for melee weapon drops.  This is because a weapon is a much larger upgrade to the primary user of that weapon than simply the stat item that it would be for the alternate user.

4) If a character has already won something that same evening, they may not roll against those that have not yet won something.

If, after the above rules have been applied, there is noone eligible to roll for an item, anyone may roll on that piece of gear.

If noone wishes to roll on the item even after it has been opened up for general consumption, the item will be assigned to the guild bank for either disenchant or sale on the auction house.  Proceeds will be used to fund the raid preparation tab of the guild bank (flasks, food, potions, reagents) and guild-funded repairs.
